When I say crappy telly, I don't mean the thing on which I watch it was crappy. Although it's already behind the times I'm still quite proud of my TV, the marvels of HD haven't worn off for me, and neither has my generic hard-drive recorder device thing, which records everything I watch, freeing me from the bother of looking for something watchable.
I have lots of things on series link, but I have a few things on series link which require that I try and watch at least one a day, or I will never catch up. There's Pointless (possibly the most ironically named daytime TV programme of all time), a quite glacically slow quiz show, a few antiques shows that I would like more if whoever edits them wasn't so fond of crowbarring in an "appropriate" song in the soundtrack ever thirty seconds, and my very favourite; Judge Judy.
Ahhh, Judge Judy, I do love you so. I love your attitude, I love your voice, I love your exasperation with this parade of american stupidity that is paraded in front of you, I love your deadpan wit (favourite quote of the week "Get On with it, I've got things to do, I want to get home. Judge Judy is on."), I love your withering looks; I could watch this programme for a living. My ex once suggested that I loved Judge Judy more than them. ...And? What's your point?
Recently, I'm told, Jeremy Kyle has gone to the US and is doing a version of his thing, I hesitate to call it a show, where he berates working class people for being stupid. But, but, they already have Judge Judy, why would they need him? I want so much for JJ, as I like to call her (that's a lie, I've never called her that before, I'm just bored and faintly embarrassed about typing out the full thing already) to come to the UK and take over his old slot, but I suspect they would have to find some other format for her, given her show is founded upon her knowing the law, and us having a different law and all. It's a niggling problem, but not an insurmountable one.
There's about six programme's a day of JJ on (yes, I'm sticking with it). Yes, you heard right. On. Er, wait, I mean Six.Now, granted half of those are repeats (technically they're all repeats, just ones I haven't seen), by that I mean repeats that the DVR ignores as already having recorded, that's three new episodes to watch a day. At some point they must start to show ones even I have seen before, but apparently not yet. As far as I know they're still making these things, so I have some way to go yet.
I'd like to see her go into politics, before she gets too old. She has a sound mind, which is more than can be said for most. I could see her as the republican candidate that everyone can agree on.
Judge Judy for President! Honestly, she couldn't be worse, and she might be so much better.
